How can we help?
Answers to the questions we get most. If yours isn’t here, email us; a real person (the developer) reads every message.
The basics
Is Habiroot free?
Yes. Habiroot is free to download and, right now, every feature is free. An optional subscription, Habiroot Plus, is planned for later (from $29.99 a year in the US). Accounts created before Plus launches will keep Plus features for free.
I used “Roots – Streak Tracker”. Is this the same app?
Yes. Roots – Streak Tracker was renamed Habiroot with version 2.0. It’s the same App Store listing, so the update installs over the old app and your account, habits and streaks carry over. Sign in the same way you did before (Apple, Google or your name and password).
Which devices does Habiroot run on?
iPhone with iOS 17.6 or later, plus a companion app for Apple Watch (watchOS 10.0 or later). You sign in with Apple, Google, or a name and password.
Is Habiroot available on Android?
Not yet. An Android version is being prepared for Google Play and will use the same account, so habits and streaks you start on iPhone will carry over. Until then Habiroot is on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch.
Streaks and plants
How do streaks work?
Complete a habit once per day to grow its streak. The streak survives as long as your last completion was today or yesterday. If a whole calendar day passes without a completion, the streak resets to zero and your next completion starts a new streak at 1. Days follow the calendar on your phone, in your local time zone.
How do the plants grow?
Every habit gets its own plant, and it grows as the habit’s daily streak gets longer: from a seed to a full plant. Most species have six stages, reached at 3, 7, 14, 30, 50 days. The tulip has five stages, at 7, 14, 30, 50 days. All your plants live together on a garden island that gains room as you add habits. You start with the tree and the tulip; the other species are bought in the Plant Shop with coins. Browse every species in the plant gallery.
What happens to my plant if I miss a day?
The streak goes back to zero, so the plant returns to its first stage and starts growing again from your next completion. Nothing else is lost: the habit, its reminder and your coins stay put.
Can Habiroot help me break a bad habit?
Yes. Add the habit as one you want to quit and Habiroot counts clean days: whole days since you created the habit or since your last slip. Its plant starts out rotten and recovers stage by stage as clean days add up, until it’s fully restored at 50 days. If you slip, log it honestly: the clean-day count restarts and the plant begins recovering again.
What are habit chains?
A chain links 2–3 good habits you do in sequence, like water → stretch → read. Each link unlocks after the previous one is done, and the whole chain shares one streak. The shared streak survives only while every link was completed today or yesterday.
How do coins work?
You earn coins for opening the app each day, for streak milestones (7, 14, 30, 60, 100 and 365 days) and for focus time. Spend them in the shop on new plant species. Coins are earned by keeping habits and focusing. You can also buy a coin pack if you want a plant sooner; coins you buy never expire.
Account, sync and data
Does Habiroot work offline? Are my habits synced?
Your habits, streaks, chains and reminder settings are saved to your Habiroot account, so checking off a habit needs an internet connection; if a change can’t be saved, the app tells you and you can try again. The focus timer runs on your iPhone and works without a connection, and reminders arrive offline too. Sign in on a new iPhone with the same method and your habits come back. Your garden’s plant choices, coins, focus history and custom focus projects are stored only on the device for now, so they don’t move to a new phone.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open your profile (the panel on the right), tap Delete Account and confirm (step-by-step on the delete your account page). This permanently deletes your habits, your profile and your sign-in account from our servers. It can’t be undone. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an App Store subscription; cancel that in your iPhone’s Settings (see below). If you can’t open the app, email [email protected] from the address linked to your account and we’ll delete it for you.
Do you track me or sell my data?
No. Habiroot has no ads, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and we never sell data. App blocking (when available) works entirely on your iPhone through Apple’s Screen Time framework. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Purchases and subscriptions
How do I restore my purchases?
Make sure you’re signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID you bought with, and signed in to Habiroot with the same account as before. Then open your profile, tap Habiroot Plus and tap Restore Purchases. Purchases made in the older “Roots” versions are restored the same way.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Habiroot and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles all App Store payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue refunds ourselves, but we’re happy to help if something went wrong.
Reminders, widgets and focus
My reminders don’t arrive. What should I check?
Reminders are set per habit: edit the habit and turn its reminder on with a time. Then check Settings → Notifications → Habiroot on your iPhone and make sure notifications are allowed and that a Focus mode isn’t silencing them. The evening review reminder is a separate switch in your profile. Paused habits don’t send reminders.
Does Habiroot have Home Screen widgets?
Yes. Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget and search for Habiroot. Daily Progress shows how many habits you’ve done today (Home Screen, small, or Lock Screen). Focus Timer shows a running session (small or medium). During a focus session the timer also appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island as a Live Activity.
Does Habiroot work on Apple Watch?
Yes. Open the Watch app on your iPhone and install Habiroot from the Available Apps list. The watch shows today’s habits from your iPhone: tap a habit to complete it, or log a slip for a quit habit. Chained habits unlock in order, just like on the phone. Open Habiroot on your iPhone at least once after signing in so your habits reach the watch.
How does the focus timer work?
Pick a project (Work, Study, Reading and more), choose a length and start. A pot plant grows while the session runs, and you earn coins for the time you focus. Sessions run from 25 to 120 minutes in 5-minute steps. Each project keeps its own stats.
Can Habiroot block distracting apps while I focus?
App blocking during focus sessions is built and waiting on Apple’s approval of the Screen Time (Family Controls) permission. When it ships, it will run entirely on your iPhone through Apple’s Screen Time framework: you choose what to block, blocking lifts automatically when the session ends, and no app usage data leaves your device.
Still stuck?
Email [email protected]. It helps to include your iPhone model, iOS version and what you were doing when the problem happened. You can also send feedback from the app: open your profile and tap Feedback.
